The automatic braking system (abs) engages when road surfaces are snowy or slick. when this happens, i cannot stop the vehicle within a reasonable distance. the abs takes over and the car coasts indefinitely. i have never been in an accident in 40 years of driving, and have now had three near misses over the last two winters due to the abs.
I was drivin in the highway 65 m/h and i was using the cruise control, just as it passed through the ezpass toll booth the pre-collision system activated and brake abruptly,i also feel that when you drive about 60 miles per hour you apply the brake i feel small vibrations in the car and finally the 4x4 control knob is close to the fan knob and by mistake i connected the 4x4 when i want to turn on the fan i think it should have something like security to not be connected so easily
Breaks failed at red light on state highway...pedal went to the floor then back breaks slowed truck to a stop...rusted brake line on front left...right brake line also looking to break from rust in the future...not rubber coating on break lines like other lines
On entering an intersection the vehicle applied brakes automatically and without warning. at that time the path forward of the vehicle was clear. this action caused a safety hazard by stalling the vehicle in the intersection. applying gas resulted in no forward movement. oncoming traffic had to stop abruptly to avoid a collision with my vehicle. i have been to the toyota dealership two times to have this repaired to no avail. the last communication from toyota concerning my complaint was a phone call from a factory rep advising me that i needed to read my owners manual regarding this issue. at this point i an afraid to drive the vehicle. please help. nhtsa ref# 247577.
Brakes actuate abnornmal. brakes engage approx. 2 seconds after they are applied. brakes also will come on at full force locking the vehicle up. master tech diagnostic - faulty brake booster. toyota has recalls for 2012 tacoma's however my vin is not included in recall.
With normal braking, and just before stopping, the brakes grab excessively causing the occupants necks to snap forward. very annoying and could cause neck strain if not anticipating the reaction. this append from the time i twas new & continues since.
Vehicle continues to have brake shudder while decelerating from freeway speeds. as the brakes heat up, the brake shudder gets more and more pronounced. i have had this vehicle in to the dealership for maintenance on this issue 5 times in the last 6 months to address the issue. tsb has been done to address rear axle issues, all recalls have been completed and rear drums were replaced under warranty once. vehicle is still under manufacturer's 2yr/25,000 mile toyotacare warranty, but manufacturer refused to replace the drums/rotors. i have taken the vehicle to a different shop and had front rotors/pads replaced, along with the rear drums and there is still a vibration coming from the brakes while decelerating. please advise.
1. vibration felt when slowing down. usually between 50 and 20. below 20 it goes away. feels like the tires are out of balance but my truck has 8k miles on it and i have felt it since the day i bought it. 2. also when the transmission is out of gear and clutch is out or the rear end makes a squeaking noise when hitting bumps. 3. clutch makes a noise when releasing it. 4. high pitch hum in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th when maintaining consistent speed. took it to the dealer, the dealer was able to replicate the issues with comparable truck on their lot and brushed it off as normal.
Vehicle was driven by wife. she was pulling into a parking spot at 90 degrees, she was braking, and the vehicle failed to stop. she hit a concrete support for a light pole. the passenger side front was damaged, air bags did not deploy, twice while i was driving the vehicle, the "brake!" flashed on the dash info center. both times i was coming to a stop behind vehicles coming to a stop. we contacted the dealership and toyota costumer care, who had an independent source evaluate the "black box:. the data was collected and given to toyota, who informed us that it can take 30 days for an outcome. toyota will not say if the vehicle is safe to drive, it is up to us if we want to drive it. toyota will not provide us alternate transportation, as per toyota assistance pert of the vehicle warranty. so at this time i cannot drive my new, 5000 miles, truck and not provided alternative transportation.
Truck is new. brakes do not function properly. two times the brakes failed to stop the truck. flew threw the intersection. the brakes will flutter and fall to the floor. other times it will be very stiff and stop the car very aggressively. very dangerous. brought to toyota in lancaster california and there mechanic said it had no problems. this incident has been documented with witnesses. i will bring back every time this happens.
