Steering
Steering is very tight due to poorly made u joint on the intermediate steering shaft. Was quoted $460 by toyota to replace. I feel like this safety issue should be rectified free of charge through a tsb or recall

Was driving down the road and the frame broke completely in half on the drivers side an caused the drive shaft to fall out and when it did it bounced up and knocked a hole in the gas tank causing me to wreck.and the bed of the truck has huge holes rusted through them.

Stiff steering while stationary. Difficult turning while moving after not using the vehicle for a time. This occurred after leaving the vehicle for 6 months or so at the dealer for a recall in 2012 or so. When i got the vehicle back it was ok but i don't know what they did to it. The intermediate steering shaft u joint rusts and causes the steering to stiffen unexpectedly. I know there are technical service bulletins put out by toyota, it is disappointing that automobile company's are not held accountable by the nhtsa, since this is a safety issue.

Vehicle surges when steering wheel is turned, also is hesitant to shift gears on highway. Frustrating as it is difficult to drive efficiently when your car does not shift as expected. Tiring to drive in this way.
