Problems with 2014 Toyota Tacoma AIR BAGS

The seatbelt/airbag sensor in the front passenger seat is malfunctioning. the vehicle will not detect a person sitting in the seat, and in turn will not deploy the airbag in the event of an accident.

Tl* the contact owned a 2014 toyota tacoma. while driving approximately 50 mph, the driver attempted to switch to the right lane and crashed into the rear of the preceding vehicle. none of the air bags deployed and there were no warning indicators illuminated. a police report was filed. there were no injuries. the vehicle was totaled and towed to a tow yard. the dealer was not called. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that it would be investigated; however, the contact was not called back. the failure mileage was approximately 54,000. *tt updated 10/2/18*jb

Tl* the contact owned a 2014 toyota tacoma. while driving 55 mph over black ice, the vehicle crashed into two fences, a house, and a rock. the air bags did not deploy. there were no injuries and a police report was filed under case number: 18648. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and deemed a total loss. the local dealer was not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was 90,000.

Tl* the contact owned a 2014 toyota tacoma. the contact stated that the driver was driving at 35 mph, when the vehicle accelerated independently and the brakes failed to respond when the brake pedal was depressed. as a result, the contact crashed into the rear end of another vehicle. the driver side air bag deployed but the passenger air bag failed to deploy. a police report was filed. the contact sustained a fractured rib and the driver had a fractured left arm and rib which required medical attention. the vehicle was destroyed. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 28,000.

Waiting at stop light, when light turned green proceeded into intersection. at that time a minivan struck the driver side door (90 degrees) of my 2014 toyota tacoma. ...updated 05/11/15 *bf the minivan was traveling 40 miles per hour and did not apply brakes (no skidding) when it hit the driver side door. the airbags on the minivan deployed...the curtain and side airbags did not deploy on my 2014 toyota truck and the accident was a direct impact to the two sensors that deploy the airbags on the driver side. the safety section of the toyota owners manual states 3300 lb. vehicle traveling 12-18 miles per hour will deploy the curtain and side airbags. i have filed a claim with toyota on march 9, 2015 regarding the safety concern. toyota representative has retrieved black box data from the truck and sent me a courtesy copy of the data on march 19, 2015. i have not received any analysis feedback from toyota indicating the truck is safe to drive. i can furnish accident report, witness to accident and repair estimate. ......updated 12/17/15 *bf updated 10/6/2017*cn
