The neutral safety switch prevents the shifter to engage the drive. I have had the neutral safety switch replaced one time under the manufacture warrantee. I will have it replaced again tomorrow april 5, 2018. The dealer staid it is caused by corrosion. The safety issue is that you cannot change gears from revers to drive.
