The airbag system is not properly functioning. The warning light is on and indications are that the system will likely not deploy properly if involved in a motor vehicle accident. It currently does not qualify for the toyota airbag system recall, but interestingly enough there is an issue with the system in this current make/model. The problem was detected during a routine maintenance inspection/service at a shop.
