Our daughter was driving our toyota pick-up when she smelled a gas oder. she immediatly pulled over and called her mother. her mother insisted that she come home immediatly. fortunately she was not far from home. upon her arrival at home dad went outside to see what was the problem. our neighbor came over and assisted in helping pin point the problem. there was not just a drip but a huge puddle of gas underneath the truck. we discovered a ruptured fuel hose coming from the gas tank. it appears that the plastic tab holding the hose in place chaffed a hole in it. i immediatly came inside and did some research on the internet and also called some local toyota dealerships. what i discovered was that toyota did have a recall on a hose on this vehicle but it was another hose in another location. at that point i ordered a toyota replacement gas hose from our local dealership. after waiting a week for a hose to be shipped, i picked up the part and installed it myself easily. the problem has been fixed and and no other problem since. i am a true toyota fan and presently own ...
I was driving my 2001 toyota tacoma extended cab when another vehicle hit me behind the drivers door and my truck exploded in to flames. i could not get out of the vehicle from the drivers side and had to go through the flames in the cab to get out the passenger side. i suffered burns and was hospitalized in the burn unit. *jb
Upon starting the truck and driving out the driveway, gasoline started spraying all over the hood,the engine compartment and the driveway. there is a high pressure injection hose that goes from the fuel filter to a fitting on the fire wall and back to the gas tank. the plastic clamp that holds this hose up,wore a hole in the hose. the part number for the hose assembly that broke is 2390675040. *nm
Consumer received nhtsa recall letter no. 033189000: pick-up trucks, during side impact ncap test (i.e. lincap test), a flange at the rear end of the double cab body is deformed and interfered with the fuel inlet hose that connects the fuel filler pipe and fuel tank, resulting in damage to the fuel inlet hose. however, the dealership still does not have the parts available to conduct the recall. *la
